Assurance

It was Easter weekend in 1996. My family was watching the Ten Commandments movie the Saturday night before Easter. In the scene with the spirit of God passes over the houses of Egypt in what became known as the Passover and took the first born son from the unmarked houses I felt a strong conviction from the Lord that I needed to be saved. I slipped out in the commercial to my bedroom and prayed God would forgive my sins and send Jesus into my heart as savior. I then slipped back into the living room and finished the movie with my family not telling my parents until afterwards and we prayed together. The next Sunday was Easter. My parents took me to visit our pastor during Sunday School and that evening I was baptized.

It is because of this I have assurance of life in heaven with my God and his son Jesus plus my family and friends who have also professed Jesus as their Savior. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. -John 3:16” I’m posting below a video of a song Blessed Assurance that reminds me of this assurance of a life in heaven because of the sacrifice and gift of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let me encourage you that if you don’t know this assurance today then talk to someone about it and if you don’t have someone to talk to then I believe it’s as easy as ABC. Admit you are a Sinner, Believe Jesus died for your Sins, Confess Jesus as Lord of your Life.
