I use a Silage Tarp from Hoss Tools. I’ve enjoyed having this tarp for the past couple of years. It helps me when preparing a plot for planting and killing the weeds before planting and helping to make the soil in my plot more ready for seeds at planting. Yes, the soil will be affected by the sun after the tarp is removed but it’ll be better at time of planting. What I do before planting a plot is put the tarp over it for at least a few weeks then move it over to another spot. Right now I’ve moved it over to where I plan to plant my fall garden to give that area a plenty of time to get ready. I may move it before fall planting time to a few other spots I wish to prepare but for now it’s over my fall plot so I don’t have to work on it until I’m ready.

Thursday evening I removed the tarp before a rain that was forecasted Friday. I planted a no-till cover crop of bird seed, iron clay cowpeas, and some pinto beans. I’ve been in a mindset of cleaning out my existing seed a bit so I just planted what I had. I’ve never planted birdseed but have had it sprout under a bird feeder before so we’ll see how this works. The bean seeds were a few years old so I’ll have to see if they sprout. We did get a good rain early Friday morning so hopefully it comes up. I did notice quite a few birds on the garden Friday evening so hopefully they didn’t eat everything!

I want to say thanks for stopping by to read my ramblings. To say thanks more I have a few free phone wallpapers here.
