My bible reading this morning was the end of Hebrews. Hebrews chapter 11 hit me and I thought I would share some of what I read.
Faith…
Hebrews 11 starts out as in verses 1-3:
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. – Hebrews 11:1-3
The chapter continues on in verses 4-31 with stories of faith from the bible but I won’t list all those verses just to keep this more readable. I can’t say of all the times I’ve heard these verses preached from but they really struck me in reading this morning. The other day I posted pictures of the Perseid Meteors and Milky Way. In the moments of watching meteors or a sunset is when I’m reminded of the hands of God at work.
Verses 32-40 go on to say that there’s not time to list all the stories of faith but there’s many more. I can say the same in my life. I’ve seen the hand of God move both in good and bad situations here in my life on earth. Many times in the bad I do not see it but he makes something “good” come from the bad. Even though I don’t do a good job in the moment of the “bad” he does it anyway. That is faith. The confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1).
In my rambling this morning I pray you’re encourage as I was by Hebrews 11. Everywhere we look in life, both in scripture and through the stories of friends, we can see hope if we look for it. I know I must do a better job at having faith in the tough times especially and I pray that you do as well.
I believe salvation is as easy as ABC. Admit You’re A Sinner, Believe Jesus Is Lord, Call Upon His Name (Confess).
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
