Word and Song Of Encouragement This Week:
This week’s word of encouragement and song of encouragement will be together.
I’m reading The Bible Recap bible reading plan with some in our church right now. In the plan you read some assigned chapters in the bible, watch a video discussing the days reading, then comment on the group’s page in the bible app if you would like to. The reading the other day included one of my favorite stories in 1 Kings 18:16-46. This story is of the prophet Elijah calling 450 prophets of Baal to Mount Carmel for a god challenge of sorts. In this challenge he tells the Baal prophets to build an altar then call on Baal to light the fire. The prophets of Baal prepared their altar then chanted to Baal to light the fire. The verses here say they did this from morning until noon and nothing happened then Elijah started to taunt them. They continued until evening chanting and doing stuff like cutting themselves but nothing happened. Then it is like Elijah said, “Ok, my turn. Get out of the way!”
He rebuilt the altar as it had been messed up. He dug a trench around the altar then he had four large jars filled with water and poured over the altar. That was not enough he instructed those with the jars of water to fill the jars two more times and pour over the altar (rocks, wood, sacrifice…) until the trench was filled also.
He did this so there was no doubt on what God was capable of. I did not think of this until seeing a comment on it but this was also during a big drought. So four large jars of water poured over the altar was a huge “bet”.
After reading this I flipped through YouTube to kill some time and there on my suggested list was the “King Is Coming” sung by the Gaither Vocal Band. Reading this story and listening to this song was a huge encouragement to me that morning.
Remember: The King Is Coming, he lights fires drenched by water.
I believe salvation is as easy as ABC. Admit You’re A Sinner, Believe Jesus Is Lord, Call Upon His Name (Confess).
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
My Favorite Photograph This Week:

One goal of this project is to recommend local business/organizations. This week I’ll continue with this goal, I want to mention the Monticello A&P Commission’s www.exploremonticello.com. I’ve lived here in Monticello since 2004. I’m proud to call Monticello home. I appreciate how the A&P commission promotes our community and puts on events for everyone here such as the Fourth of July food trucks and fireworks that I mentioned the other day!
If you wonder about anything around Monticello please check out www.exploremonticello.com.

Michael Gilbert: This blog is a personal project of ramblings from me on a variety of subjects. In suggestion articles I’ve read on creating a blog everything suggests creating a niche type subject for everything but this blog is a summary of my life which has a bunch of moving parts. I was unable to decide on an area of life to focus this blog on so I went with many subjects. Sorry if my ramblings are too scattered for you!
If you’re curious on who this rambling redneck from south Arkansas is you can read my story here.
Thanks for stopping by to read my ramblings!
-Michael
I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. -Philippians 1:20 (NIV)

Wish to support future content here on my blog? I have this beautiful canvas print available for purchase:

Thanks so much for stopping by to read my ramblings! I have a few requests:
- Please consider subscribing if you’d like to be notified of when I post again.
- Share with a friend.
These three items help me to know if I am doing this right. A comment (good or bad) helps me to know what’s working and what’s not.
Thanks!

-Michael Gilbert
