This post will be a multiple items update on some stuff going on in the garden right now. My garden is going full speed right now…
First, I had my first pea pickin’ the other day! It’s been a while since I shelled purple hull peas. Thanks to my daughter for her help. Then came our favorite part, a meal with fresh peas! I should have another batch of peas here in a few days. My pea patch isn’t the largest but it’s just right for a few fresh meals!
Next, is an update on my composting projects. I mentioned last week building a second wire cage. In it I’ve done grass clippings and leaves like my first bin but I’ve also added the pea hulls from when we shelled peas as well as some sunflower stalks.
Then my other update on composting is a worm bucket project. There’s a bunch of videos on YouTube on worm bins if your curious.
With both of these projects I plan to us the compost to amend my garden next year and help with my sandy soil.
Thanks so much for stopping by to read my ramblings! I have a few requests:
- Please consider subscribing if you’d like to be notified of when I post again.
- Share with a friend.
These three items help me to know if I am doing this right. A comment (good or bad) helps me to know what’s working and what’s not.
Thanks!

-Michael Gilbert
