On Friday morning I like to go out to Lake Monticello to walk and take photographs. This past Friday was overcast so I did not even get my camera out but just walked close the truck in case it rained. As I walked I saw some light on the Eastern horizon and thought it might be a good sunrise. I went and grabbed my camera from the truck and got it setup to take some photographs. I was treated to a spectacular show from the creator. I’ve never really liked my sunrise photos but this one was awesome to watch and I’m thankful for these photos to help with the memory. What I thought was going to be a bust of a morning for a photograph turned out to be a treat!
I wish on the portrait photograph I had pointed my camera more upward to get less dark foreground (but the afterthought is always easy). I tried getting closer to the lake but the first photograph is the closest I could setup.
Thanks so much for stopping by to read my ramblings! I have a few requests:
- Please consider subscribing if you’d like to be notified of when I post again.
- Share with a friend.
These three items help me to know if I am doing this right. A comment (good or bad) helps me to know what’s working and what’s not.
Thanks!

-Michael Gilbert
