Fall Garden Update

I planted a fall garden a few weeks ago. I feel like right now this garden is a “miss” Here’s what’s working and what’s not:

The Bad

-I started some broccoli plants from seed. I went ahead and planted them out even though they are very stunted. I might go pick up some plants from our local garden store to grow also. I have not taken a picture of the plants yet because they look so pitiful!

-I also started some onions to overwinter. I’ve never really had much luck with onions, right now they look pretty puny too!

-Green Beans, I planted three rows of beans for this fall. So far I’ve only seen one plant sprouting. For this planting I went with quick buy on seeds at our local store instead of my usual seed from Hoss Tools. The past couple of falls I’ve had really good success with fall beans (not looking that successful his year so far!)

The Good

Ok, now for what’s working! Cover crops. I’ve planted first some warm season plants then some cool season plants right before a big rain. So far they’re looking good. Here’s some pictures:

The lower end of this patch is pretty sparse. I’m going to need to work on this area coming up soon!

Thanks so much for stopping by to read my ramblings! I have a few requests:

  • Please consider subscribing if you’d like to be notified of when I post again.
  • Share with a friend.

These three items help me to know if I am doing this right. A comment (good or bad) helps me to know what’s working and what’s not.

Thanks!
