Driving Over To Choctaw

Last week I drove over to one of my favorite places to drive around here to take pictures. It was introduced to me by my friend Blake back in our college days. Now a close second (maybe its a tie) is a drive over to Choctaw Island WMA at Arkansas City on the Mississippi River. Typically the wildlife viewing opportunities on the way to and while at Choctaw are numerous. This time of year the opportunities usually include waterfowl but I never know what I’ll see.

First, on this drive was a stop at my favorite spot for bald eagles. I didn’t see any on this stop but did snap a few pictures:

Next, is a stop to view waterfowl on some flooded farm fields. This stop is right on the highway so the traffic coming by is usually numerous. I’ve been called out by friends who’ve seen me at this location taking pictures, thankfully they knew me and thought, “oh it’s just that photo nerd MG.”

My favorite of the day

I had hoped to be able to get closer but when I tried it spooked the ducks further away plus I didn’t want to go too far onto someone else’s property.

Thanks so much for stopping by to read my ramblings! I have a few requests:

  • Please consider subscribing if you’d like to be notified of when I post again.
  • Share with a friend.

These three items help me to know if I am doing this right. A comment (good or bad) helps me to know what’s working and what’s not.

Thanks!
