I said in yesterday’s post I went back to Lake Monticello with the hope of seeing some songbirds to take pictures of.
In my favorite picture of the day (also displayed above) the hint of cormorants. I’m not a bird expert but I’ve always called these birds water turkeys (mostly) or Cormorant. But after some reading just now it looks like these are not Water Turkeys but are just Cormorants. I’ll have to check with some my birding friends on that one. From what I’ve read the “Water Turkey” is the Anhinga bird and are different from cormorant.
Anywho, I saw the birds as I first got out of my truck. I did my usual of take a few pictures then try to get closer. Of course I did spook the bulk of the off when I got a little too close but they started to come back. It was neat to be standing on the bed of Lake Monticello, it was dry where I was but muddy.
The water is coming Lake Monticello visitors!
Anyway here’s a few of my pictures. If I’m wrong on the naming of these birds please send me a comment!

Ok, tomorrow’s post is of some songbirds. I had to try again but did catch a few the next day!
Thanks for stopping by!
