Pants For Water

A scripture I came across (I do not remember where) is Psalm 56:8, “You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?” I like Tony Evans’ commentary on this verse: “David’s tears would not escape God’s notice.” I truly believe I am loved by the creator of the universe and just as he cared for David here he watches, he cares, he loves me and you. As the very popular verse, John 3:16 says:

As I read this I thought about Psalm 42:1-2a (ESV): “As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” I heard it preached on this verse that a lot of times we think of this as a deer walking down to a peaceful stream of water and getting a drink but the pastor I listened to said no it’s more like a deer, thirsty, famished, panting is going for a life saving drink. It pants, it longs, it needs water. Just as Jesus says in John 4:14 (ESV): “Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

HE (Jesus) gives life saving water.

HE (Jesus) gives eternal life!

Are you thirsty for something that will last?

I believe salvation is as easy as ABC. Admit You’re A Sinner, Believe Jesus Is Lord, Call Upon His Name (Confess).

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Let me highlight that last verse, Romans 10:9:

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
