Extra Friday Post (with an uh-oh and thanks!)

This is an extra post looking forward to next week’s Tuesday photography post. This is just a sneak peak, see if you can guess the subject of next week’s post I’ll place a poll down below (please try to guess)…

Well I ran out Sunday afternoon after church and lunch with my family for a quick photography outing.

Here’s my one clue photo:

Ok, maybe two clue photos:

Well as I said in the title this was supposed to be a quick photography trip to relax a bit on Sunday afternoon but there was an “uh-oh” moment just as I was getting ready to go home! I got out of my truck for one more photo and heard a hissing sound. My truck was still running so I hoped it was just engine noise I heard so I went and turned the truck off but could still hear it, my front left tire was losing air. So I jumped in my truck and wanted to get in the shade (there is nonewhere I was). I pulled up to a barn there close and parked in the shade but nobody was home at the farm. I decided I should get to a more populated spot so I drove to Lake Chicot State Park and parked in the shade to work on my leaking tire (not sure what caused the leak). I tried to take the tire off but couldn’t get all but one of the lug nuts loose so I asked a gentleman there at the park if he’d have a moment to help and he did. We tried to remove the lug nuts together but could not get them to budge. He offered to loan me his small air pump to pump up the tire and hopefully get my truck to a shop in town. So I ran the pump for a while but could only get about 50% of full air in the tire. That plan would not have worked anyways. He had to leave but came back a bit later for his pump and to check on me but I told him it was no luck.

I’m very thankful as I’ve thought over this: I texted a friend who lives close to ask if there were any tire shops open in Lake Village on Sunday afternoon. He said he didn’t know of any. I also went into the Lake Chicot State ParkVisitor Center to cool off and get on their WIFI and call my wife (cell phone service is very limited over there). While on the WIFI service I was able to update my wife on what was going on. The lady who managed the state park visitor center was a huge help and tried to get me some help. A gentleman there on vacation spent quite a bit of time trying to help and loaning stuff to work on my tire situation with. My friend who lives over in Lake Village came out with an impact wrench and helped me get the tire changed. While we were working on it another gentleman who is from Monticello was there with his wife and came over to help. After we got the spare tire on it was close to being full of air but not 100% full of air so the gentleman from Monticello went and got his air pump and we topped the spare tire off with some air.

It was after 7:00 PM before I got back home (had planned on being home around 4:30). But I got home due to the help from many, I’m thankful:

-I’m thankful for the gentleman (didn’t catch his name) from Baton Rouge who stopped to help and loaned me his pump and a couple other things to try. Thanks so much!

-I’m thankful for the lady who works in the Lake Chicot State Park Visitor Center who called several other people for help and let me call my wife from her office phone when I couldn’t get a call out on the WIFI. Thanks so much!

I’m thankful for Ricky who is from Monticello and we found out we had some connections. I appreciate you stopping to help and for letting me use your air pump to top off my spare tire with air. Thanks so much!

-I’m thankful for my friend Michael. Thanks so much for coming out to help me with the tire. Thank you for bringing the impact wrench to get the tire off. Else, I might have had to spend the night in the parking lot! Thank you for dropping everything on a Sunday afternoon to come help me out. Thank you so much for coming out to help!

The next morning some of my daily Bible reading plan included Psalm 109. I could not help but think over the previous day’s “uh-oh” and be thankful. In this passage (verse 21) David says one of my favorite lines in the Bible, “But You, O God…” Then he closes the chapter with praise:

“With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the Lord;
And in the midst of many I will praise Him.
For He stands at the right hand of the needy,
To save him from those who judge his soul.”
– Psalm 109:30-31

I’ll close this extra Friday post with praise of my God for his ways, his provision, his help, his love. Yes, to some it might have been just a flat tire but I was an hour a way from home, could not get the tire off, needing help. I’m thankful for those HE sent to help me in my time of need!

I will give thanks abundantly to the Lord

Ok, now back to the “extra” photography post. Tuesday morning I will post the photography from this outing.

In my life there’s moments that I try to connect with my time with my Lord, my savior, Jesus. And as life goes on a lot of time I see a connection with God and time spent in HIS word and worshipping his name through music and words. Moments in the outdoors are my favorite thing to do do and years ago I bought my first DSLR and try to get a photograph (maybe not the best) but as I do I try to connect the moments of life with the one who created it all, GOD.
