I’m apart of a weekly Bible study that is going through the Book of Hebrews on Thursday morning. We’ve been going through Hebrews 5 the past couple of weeks and will spend another week in the chapter today. In our study of Hebrews 5 last week we looked at the middle section of chapter 5. I really like Tony Evans Commentary on it and wanted to share the thought here today.
During his earthly life, he offered prayers and appeals with loud cries and tears to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. -Hebrews 5:7
“So, What kind of man was Jesus? The author focuses on the fact that he offered prayers and appeals to God who was able to save him from death (5:7) Jesus Christ is the great God-man, fully divine and fully human. In his humanity, he went through intense suffering and struggles – though without ever sinning” -Tony Evans
In his commentary Mr. Evans points to Hebrews 4:15
“Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.“
I believe salvation is as easy as ABC. Admit You’re A Sinner, Believe Jesus Is Lord, Call Upon His Name (Confess).
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
