I mentioned Monday how much I enjoy fall. After going after The Roseate Spoonbill I decided to stay close to home the next weekend for some backyard photography. The wind was blowing that morning so a lot of my photos were blurred but I did come away with a few.

Persimmon Seeds
I mentioned yesterday how much I enjoy seeing Persimmons in the fall and especially all the wildlife they attract. I've also mentioned how much I enjoy a good experiment of some wild idea. Let me put the caveat here that this is just me messing around on something. You can definitely find much better information … Continue reading Persimmon Seeds
Finally, Cooled Off!
I figure with as much as I've commented on the heat I better comment on how it has finally cooled off! This is my favorite time of year. I just love Fall weather. For the first time in months I did not need to mow my yard this weekend. One of my favorite signs of … Continue reading Finally, Cooled Off!
All Spoonbill Posts In One
To help me document this journey on chasing the Roseate Spoonbill for today's Muddy Water And Cypress Trees Post I thought I would put everything into one post as a reminder to me of a goal accomplished. This began at my job and a work day at Freddie Black Choctaw Island WMA West Unit. Before … Continue reading All Spoonbill Posts In One
More Spoonbills
I wrote last week about a drive I took towards "the delta". From The Brake area I drove over to the Mississippi River levee where I had seen other reports on eBird. I saw some first right past the Lake Chicot Pumping Plant but the birds weren't really closer than my first sighting (actually further) … Continue reading More Spoonbills
Be Strong & Courageous
The other day my reading and scripture study time took me to the story of Joshua. There's much to say on this story but in the first chapter of the book of Joshua the phrase "Be Strong and Courageous" is said three times to Joshua from God as Joshua was chosen to lead the Jewish, … Continue reading Be Strong & Courageous
New Experiment
One thing you might see here is I like trying stuff. I noticed a few weeks ago a sprouted plant coming up from my house foundation, I believe it is a rose. For most of the time we've lived in this house there's been tall shrubs growing on this end of our house but we … Continue reading New Experiment
Upcoming Series: Game Cameras
Today's post will be a quick update on something I'll be posting more about in November, Game Cameras. I've got four out right now. These cameras are not on a bait pile as is done a lot times but on trails so I'll give them about a month before going to check on them. I'd … Continue reading Upcoming Series: Game Cameras
Where I Come From
This week's Muddy Water and Cypress Tree's post will be a little different. I want to continue on the theme of this week and look back on influences in my life. One of those influences is just as this theme of Friday posts says, Muddy Water and Cypress Trees. I'm thankful to have been raised … Continue reading Where I Come From
The Brake
In college my friend Blake introduced me to an area in the delta he called the brake. We probably spent too much time over there! I never know what I'll see. The other day I drove through the area and did get a few photographs. I was on my way to the Mississippi Levee to … Continue reading The Brake
