Back in July I posted on my Callaway Crabapple tree. The tree is about 4 years old I think. This is the second year it has had fruit with this year being more fruit than last year. Of the other fruit trees I planted at the same time this tree is the only one to … Continue reading Callaway Crabapple

Fall Tomato Update
Let's look at my fall tomatoes this morning. But first, I'd like to show a bouquet of flowers my daughter picked yesterday even from the pollinator patch. My fall tomatoes are struggling, I've lost a few but a few are looking great. I also have some plants from my earlier planting that are looking great!
The Summer Pollinator Patch – Still Going Strong
I wanted to give a quick glance at my warm season pollinator patch. It is still doing good!
Fall Tomatoes In Grow Box
I'm going to try some late tomatoes in my grow boxes. I was not going to plant these like this but changed my plans last minute. I've been showing these tomato starts since planting them. They have been looking great but in the past week have developed some kind of disease and nearly the entire … Continue reading Fall Tomatoes In Grow Box
We Need Water!
I guess the theme here this week is the heat. I've mentioned my tomato starts here before. Last week in the heat when I checked on the plants they looked pretty pitiful. After some water they looked much better the next day when I looked at them.
Pollinator Patch
For today's garden update I was planning a new project but with the heat wave we are in right now I've decided to wait. Since there's not much going on in my garden right now I decided another look at my pollinator garden was good. I like this patch because there seems to always be … Continue reading Pollinator Patch
Starting Tomatoes From Seed
If there's one part of the garden that's a must for me it is fresh tomatoes. The part that is challenging but very enjoyable to me is seed starting. With tomatoes you can find some very unique varieties if you buy the seed and start them yourself instead of buying at the store plus you … Continue reading Starting Tomatoes From Seed
Harvesting Sunflowers (Again)
Not much is going on in the garden with this heat. I cut the last bit of my Mongolian Giant Sunflowers this weekend and stored the heads in a bin to dry then give the birds this winter (I'm ready for some cold weather!) I think the later heads were bigger the the earlier ones. … Continue reading Harvesting Sunflowers (Again)
I Give Up – Garden Update
Gardening comes with many frustrations but first let's look at a few thing that are working. I planted a tray of Black Zebra Cherry Tomatoes for some late season tomatoes. These seeds are of from Hoss Tools. They're coming up now and nearly all cells in my 24 cell seed starting tray is coming up. … Continue reading I Give Up – Garden Update
Harvesting Sunflowers
I've mentioned here my Mongolian Giant Sunflowers that we're growing in the garden. I went out yesterday and cut a bunch of them and saved the seed heads to give the birds this winter and hopefully replant a few of the seeds in the spring. The sunflowers were too large for my clippers so I … Continue reading Harvesting Sunflowers
