North To Alaska (Part 1)

We recently took a family vacation to Alaska. This trip has been a goal of ours since we had kids. When we were married we took an Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon trip but said we wanted to go back and just experience Alaska as a family and not part of the cruise crowds. I’m super thankful we finally got to go on this trip. For the month of July I’ll be posting some of my photos from the trip. When I got home and looked through my camera I had over 500 pictures on my camera and iPhone. I whittled that down to 82, from the 82 I’ll share some of our memories from the trip so I can look back on it in the future.

I’ll start out on our departure from Little Rock, AR where it was 88 degrees just before lunchtime.

Goodbye Arkansas!

Next I’ll post a place we went towards the end of the trip, Kincaid Park. Kincaid Park was in Anchorage, AK. We had some time so we drove out there to walk around. I did not take many photos but it was a beautiful spot. Just be ready the trails are not a leisurely stroll, there’s some elevation change in the trails! The first trail in Kincaid we walked on was a challenging walk but a beautiful spot. My wife was a bit nervous because this trail was a remote area. Then I made the comment, “oh look…there’s a bear track”. We went back to the car immediately after this! Seeing a bear during this trip to Alaska was a goal we had on this trip but wanted it at a distance and not a remote trail. Talking with a local on the trail we ended up going to he told us he had seen several bears in the park recently.

I did not carry my camera with us and of course a moose was right off the trail!

That’ll wrap up my first post on the trip. I’ll post again next Thursday. Please subscribe below if you’d like to receive an e-mail when I do post.

I want to say thanks for stopping by to read my ramblings. To say thanks more I have a few free phone wallpapers here.
