Night Sky Photos For Papaw

I can’t tell you how much a comment or text means to me from this stuff here. My dad texted me the other day to tell me he was looking at my recent post on Perseid Meteors with my grandpa. I can’t describe how that made me feel so today I’m sharing some of my favorite night sky photos for Papaw. Some of these are from Lake Ouachita which we spent a lot of time on as kids with my family. The night sky on the west side of Lake Ouachita around Little Fir is the best sky (without much light pollution) that I’ve photographed.

I want to say thanks for stopping by to read my ramblings. To say thanks more I have a few free phone wallpapers here.

Please do me a favor, if you enjoyed the post please share it with a friend.

Thank So Much! -Michael

  1. Beautiful photos Michael! My family and I went camping in Sequoia National Park when I was about 10 and a neighbor camper boy about my age had a telescope. We were actually able to see the rings around Saturn. It was so amazing. The 2000 year old General Sherman tree was pretty amazing, but not as much as the stars & Saturn. The clear night sky is majestic beyond description. Thanks for posting such great pictures. The Milky Way photos are almost unbelievable. Thanks so much!

    1. Thanks for reading! I hear the night sky out west is unbelievable. I wanted to do some viewing while we were up in Alaska but it didn’t get dark until way after I went to bed! For us here in Monticello the sky to the north of Lake Monticello is pretty good. We’d like to go to the Hunger Run Access and view North for a good view of meteors. The Milky Way was to the East but the lights of Monticello lit it up too much.

      1. Isn’t there a prominent meteor shower every August? If you think of it, remind me when that happens. We may want to put on some mosquito spray and head to Lake Monticello one of the nights meteors appear. I first saw the August meteors when my cousin and I slept in the yard of my grandmother’s house in the country around Lipan, Texas. Man! It was amazing watching them lying in that bed.

      2. I learned the height of the Perseid meteor showers will be August 12 & 13. I put it on my calendar.

      3. Yep, for some reason I was thinking September on that one, it’s an awesome sight! Just be warned the best times I’ve caught it in the early hours of the morning but very worth it!

  2. Michael, these photos are great! Your papaw is going to love looking at them. I bet when he was on that carrier in the navy he saw a lot of beautiful photo opportunities. Sadie’s flower pictures were so pretty also.

Thanks for sharing! Your ramblings make my day.
