The Lighted Path

For the month of October I’m taking a bit of a break on writing more up to date posts. I’m writing these posts in September and scheduling them to post in October.

For this post I went out at the end of September to my favorite local walking spot, Lake Monticello. I told myself I would not stop to take photos until I reached the end of the levee. That did not work as you’ll see in the next couple of posts. I only made it about halfway again before running out of time! Maybe on my next outing to Lake Monticello I’ll make it to the end of the levee finally! lol

I’m not crazy about my first photo. I could not capture the peace in the scene with my camera. Yes, its manmade light but I thought it looked neat reflecting off the water as I turned around in my walking.

Then I turned back after I checked the time and saw I needed to get back home to get ready for the day. As I walked back the light in the parking lot by the pavilion caught my eye so I stopped again and set up my camera on my tripod for a long exposure photograph.

They’re hard to see here for me but if you look closely you can see stars up in the sky.

Then I tried light painting this scene with my flashlight and I combined the two photos (light painted and not light painted) in photoshop to take out the movement in the stars between the two photographs.

From here I thought of Psalm 119:105. I like scripture photos like this and have several over my desk at work to help me through the day…

I was not really excited about these photos at first. I had thought about titling this post and tomorrow’s the good and bad. But now after taking a moment to look at the photos I’ve decided I do like them. But let me say, I’m excited to share tomorrow’s post. As I said at the start of this post I’m writing all this in September to get ahead on my schedule a bit, keep viewing if you’re interested please. Also, please send me a comment if you do stop by!

Thanks so much for stopping by to read my ramblings! I have a few requests:

  • Please consider subscribing if you’d like to be notified of when I post again.
  • Share with a friend.

These three items help me to know if I am doing this right. A comment (good or bad) helps me to know what’s working and what’s not.

Thanks!
