Star Gazing With Friends

I’ve mentioned a recent surgery up in Chicago that I had back in October. I’m catching up on posts here, some from before and some in the next weeks of after getting home…

The Saturday night before I left for Chicago (on Monday) I was invited by a friend to do some star gazing with her and one of her friends. It was in a great night sky location (probably best I’ve seen around here) as far as the “light pollution” goes. We were able to watch some constellations, planets, and stars. The moon was full that night so it had a lot of the sky and yard “lit” up. I started with a long exposure across the front yard and it almost looked like early morning!

Note: The Shadow from the moon!

I then increased my shutter speed a bit and did a little light painting of this shot.

I took this photo as part of a panorama. I liked it by itself so I’ll post it then I’ll post the panorama next.

This panorama did not turn out as good as I hoped. There was quite a bit I missed in the foreground on the left side so I did a pretty big crop on it.

Of course I had to do some star trails as I was out there! The moonlit trees were a neat catch here to me.

Thanks for an awesome evening watching the stars friends!

Tomorrow’s post will be the last long exposure outing I had before heading up to Chicago!

Thanks so much for stopping by to read my ramblings! I have a few requests:

  • Please consider subscribing if you’d like to be notified of when I post again.
  • Share with a friend.

These three items help me to know if I am doing this right. A comment (good or bad) helps me to know what’s working and what’s not.

Thanks!
