I’ve mentioned before trying to see the Tsuchinshan-ATLAS comet. I tried to see it before going to watch the stars with friends on the Saturday before I headed to Chicago but missed it. I went back the next evening at sunset and here’s what I got…
Note here: I don’t think I saw it yet but was just triggering my camera every so often but was unable to see it with my eye or in the preview on my camera. There was another gentleman there on the dock at Lake Monticello trying to see it. I finally zoomed in on one of my camera previews and told him I found it. The next photo is one of the last I took that evening as the mosquitos were about to carry me off!
This was a beautiful sight for sure. I’m so very thankful to have been able to see it. This would end up to be my last outing with my camera for a couple weeks.
WHAT A WAY TO PAUSE!
Anytime I’m out watching the night sky the words to the hymn “How Great Thou Art” comes to mind…
O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
This will be my last post this week. Next week I’ll post a few times with pictures I took while I was home in recovery (including a night sky attempt from my driveway)
Thanks so much for stopping by to read my ramblings! I have a few requests:
- Please consider subscribing if you’d like to be notified of when I post again.
- Share with a friend.
These three items help me to know if I am doing this right. A comment (good or bad) helps me to know what’s working and what’s not.
Thanks!

-Michael Gilbert
