Yesterday I wrote about “Who I’ve Been With” (again). A huge part of that time with my Heavenly Father is time in HIS word, the Bible. This habit is one I finally started a few years ago. I’m 40 years old and have only read all the way through scripture three times. I’m in my fourth year of daily scripture reading right now. I’m not exactly reading all the way through the Bible this year but reading a chapter of the New Testament then reading Old Testament allusions and quotations as marked in the Connecting Scripture New Testament Bible. This reading is what brought my attention to my verse of the week:
The grass withers, the flower fades
when the breath of the Lord blows on it;
surely the people are grass.
The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God will stand forever.
Isaiah 40:7-8
This brought me to Jeremiah:

Then to Psalm 1:
Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
Did you catch that?
“Blessed is the man…”
There’s plenty of times in life when I’ve not felt blessed but looking back (and if I’d just pause to think) my God loves me. It’s like the tree planted by water. Not thirsty but always near the source of strength
THERE IS A RIVER!
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock.” Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.” – John 4:10-15
“…but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again”
Do you know this source of water, of eternal life? As HE (Jesus) says you’ll never thirst again!
I believe salvation is as easy as ABC. Admit You’re A Sinner, Believe Jesus Is Lord, Call Upon His Name (Confess).
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
