I took my annual drive over to Lake Village to look for the Roseate Spoonbill again this past weekend. I got to where I usually find them and was greeted by no water and no target birds! So, I took a few pictures of cows and other sights I could find from the Mississippi River levee. First, I’ll share a few pictures of a summer thunderstorm I saw on my way. I wished I could have caught a picture of the lightening bolt I saw from this storm!

Well there’s some rain! Just need a lot more!

As I say I continued taking some pictures since I had driven a long way with high gas prices then decided on my next move (gotta make the most).

Ok, my next group of photographs are some I took at the end of my drive, after I finally found the Roseate Spoonbills (RSB).

The reason I took these photographs is because it’s around this tree I usually find the RSB (but no water this year). You can see some pictures I took near this tree in last year’s post:

Then, as I was leaving the area this family of Racoons walked onto the usually wet area for some dinner.

Note, the dry ground. Usually this is right by the tree previously posted above.

Ok, now on to the Roseate Spoonbills. I drove down the Mississippi River Levee a little ways and found some water and the RSBs. I have seen them here before it’s just very challenging to get a clear photograph of them due to things being in the way but I did get a few pictures. I did not stick around long after this. I needed to get on the road since I had a bit of a drive and still needed to figure out supper!
